A four-alarm fire damaged an apartment complex in Colorado Springs.

The fire at the Quail Cove Apartments started around 3 p.m Tuesday on Quail Lake Road. That's near Cheyenne Mountain Road and Venetucci Blvd.

A maintenance worker was first to notice the flames. He knocked on doors and warned people to evacuate, according to our partners at KRDO-TV.

The American Red Cross said it is helping nine families displaced by the fire. Red Cross officials said they were told residents will not be allowed to return to their homes tonight.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
