In the wake of a family tragedy, the community in Frederick and beyond is looking for ways to help the family of Shanann Watts and her daughters.

The husband, Chris Watts, confessed to killing them Tuesday, according to law enforcement sources. Police found three bodies on Thursday matching the descriptions of the mother and her daughters, who were 3 and 4 years old.

Shanann Watts’s brother, Frankie Rzucek, confirmed there is an active Facebook fundraiser that was initially created to help the search for the missing woman and children, and has turned into an effort to pay for funeral expenses.

The Facebook fundraiser had collected $56,363 from 1,591 individuals, as of Friday at 11 a.m. The donation total continued to increase every few minutes Friday morning.

The family has planned a candlelight vigil at the intersection of Steeple Rock Drive and Saratoga Trail in Frederick at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
