Armed robbers raid marijuana shop

Posted

Carbondale police are searching for a pair of armed robbers who raided a marijuana shop as it was opening.

The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports that the robbers entered Sweet Leaf Pioneer pot shop Monday as the store was opening. One showed a gun to an employee.

Police say the pair fled in a red Ford Mustang with an undisclosed amount of cash and other items. Additional stolen property was not disclosed because police say it would harm the ongoing investigation.

Marijuana shops are all-cash businesses because their product is illegal under federal law, scaring banks and credit card companies away from handling money from drug sales.
