One of the best kept shopping secrets in Douglas County is located in Castle Rock.

It is a place where you can save money while helping others.

The slogan for the Douglas Elbert Task Force is "Shop today and give hope tomorrow."

"We are a non-profit that was started almost 32 years ago.  Last year we served almost 16,000 people in Douglas and Elbert Counties.  We have a food bank, a thrift store, we help with emergency rent and utility assistance," said Jenny Follmer, Deputy Dir., Douglas Elbert Task Force.

One of the ways the D-E Task Force makes money to help others is with a thrift shop called Treasures.
It is open to the public and is home to some great bargains on clothing, books, toys and household items.

The linens section of the store is tended to by volunteer Joann Styron.

"I have always enjoyed it so much.  I get compliments on my clothing all the time and I tell them:  'It's the thrift store.  You got to go to the thrift store,'" said Styron.

Styron has given her time in the thrift shop for more than 20 years.

"I live really close.  So, I might come four or five times a week.  It is just a good feeling.  It just makes you feel good all over," said Styron.

The Douglas Elbert Task Force and its Treasures Thrift Shop are located at 1638 Park Street in Castle Rock.
Take the Wolfensberger exit west off I-25 to Park Street north.
