While spring and summer are looking a bit different this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, we can still enjoy certain aspects of the warm-weather months, like getting some fresh air and enjoying delicious seasonal treats.
From drinks like s’mores martinis and peach-flavored hard tea to desserts like key lime pound cake and margarita ice cream, there are plenty of sweet ways to enjoy what the end of winter has to offer. And now, fast-food chain Steak ‘n Shake is adding one more to the list — a tasty new milkshake that will also provide us with some much-needed nostalgia.
The restaurant’s cotton candy-flavored milkshake blends Steak ‘n Shake’s ice cream with cotton candy syrup to create a beautiful light teal color. Of course, it is topped with whipped cream and a cherry, as every milkshake should be.
If cotton candy isn’t your idea of a warm-weather treat, Steak ‘n Shake is also bringing back a fan-favorite milkshake: black raspberry chocolate chip. Blended with ice cream, black raspberry syrup and chocolate chips, the shake comes complete with whipped cream, an extra sprinkle of chocolate chips and a cherry on top.
Best of all, the blended colors create a vibrant purple hue, making the shake as pretty as it is sweet.
While Steak ‘n Shake doesn’t say how long the milkshakes will be on the menu, they are only around for a limited time, so you’ll want to order take-out or delivery, or head to a drive-thru soon. Milkshakes are half-price during Steak ‘n Shake’s happy hour, Monday through Friday from 2-5 p.m.
The restaurant chain has also announced that all customers can enjoy a complimentary order of fries for a limited time as part of the company’s “We’re All Essential” campaign.
To get the freebie, simply request an order of free fries while at the drive-thru and they will be added to your order.
If you don’t have a Steak ‘n Shake near you, the blog This Mom’s Confessions has a recipe for making your own cotton candy milkshake at home — and it looks pretty easy!
Or, for another frozen cotton candy-flavored delight, check to see if your local Dairy Queen is serving up its new cotton candy dipped cones! The creamy-sweet treat features DQ’s classic vanilla soft-serve ice cream dipped in a bright-blue cotton candy-flavored coating.
And for a slightly more adult spin on the cotton candy flavor, try your hand at whipping up some cotton candy margaritas, using this recipe from Such the Spot. This innovative drink utilizes actual cotton candy, which is mixed with cream soda, lime juice, orange liqueur and tequila for a boozy take on the nostalgic county fair treat.
Will you be trying Steak ‘n Shake’s new cotton candy milkshake or making one yourself?
