An intersection in Aurora is closing for two months until a construction project on a light rail is finished.
According to RTD spokesperson Lisa Trujillo, several roads near the intersection of Alameda and Sable boulevards will be closed down or have limited business access from 8 p.m. Oct. 4 until Thanksgiving.
"It needs to be fully reconstructed to include light rail," said Trujillo.
The light rail will run north and south on the east side of Sable Boulevard.
The closed roads restrict access to some of the businesses in the area, including Apex Sports Lounge. Regulars to the sports bar say they'll have to detour to get there on Sundays.
"It comes at an unfortunate time for the bar, during the football season," said Lance Griffin, who's friends with the bar owner. "They're just getting open and don't need the hassle."
Griffin said the bar has only been open for two months.
"I think the construction and the road closures are going to steer people away," said Griffin.
Griffin did acknowledge that the light rail will be beneficial to the area long term. Trujillo said she thinks more people will shop there when the train line is complete.
