Hello fellow thrifters! It's one of our favorite times of year.
As a frequent thrift store shopper, I know you can find great items and great deals 365 days a year. But one of my favorite things to browse for every year are those unique, hilarious and downright bizarre, white elephant gifts. This year, I started my search at the ARC thrift store.
"We have hundreds and hundreds of items that make you go what the thrift is that," says Maggie Scivicque, marketing director for ARC thrift stores.
At the ARC store in the Market Square Shopping Center in Lakewood, workers have already started setting aside the unique donations that would make great white elephant gifts. The weirder, the better.
Some of their best finds include a statuette of a flashing cow, a knit your own beard kit, a bacon wallet and a sumo wrestler statuette that doubles as a fan. That one gets double points for being both funny and functional.
Plenty of the gifts are homemade, but others appear to be new and never opened. These were likely white elephant gifts from someone's Christmas past.
Many of these gifts can be found for under 5 dollars, says Scivicque. That's a lot cheaper than some of the humorous gag gifts being sold on Amazon.
