DENVER – Denver is seeing an increase in small business wages, according to new data released by human-resource consulting firm Paychex.
Denver has seen an increase in hourly earnings of about 3.22 percent in May when compared to the same time last year. When turned into weekly earnings, the Mile High City saw an increase of 3.87 percent – an average of $946.01 in weekly pay, according to the data compiled by Denver-based Paychex.
When broken up into regions across the United States, the West region – which Denver is part of – saw an increase of about 3.65 percent in hourly earnings, or about $26.93 per hour.
“With the strongest weekly hours gain, the Midwest joins the West with earnings growth above three percent,” the website states.
Nationally, the study showed hourly earnings increased 2.87 percent in May year-over-year, coming up to about $25.76 in pay per hour, resulting in accelerating earnings growth for the fourth consecutive month, according to the study.
