Takata recall expandings to other automakers

Posted

The huge recall of deadly Takata airbags is expanding to include more recent car models.

So far, more than 20 million older cars have been recalled due to risk of violent airbag explosions.

Now the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says 12 automakers have been notified that more recent airbags are also at risk of exploding.

Several people have been hurt, and some killed, by the metal shards that fly out of the airbags when they explode.

Honda is alerting auto dealers to prepare for more recalls of models newer than 2008.
