King Soopers stops doubling coupons Tuesday

Monday is the last day to get double coupon value at King Soopers.

The grocery store chain will stop doubling coupons on Tuesday, August 23.

“In an effort to modernize the company’s coupon policies, King Soopers has been investing additional resources into its digital coupons and promotions," Kelli McGannon, director of public affairs for King Soopers, said in a statement sent to Denver7.

"Only a small percentage of King Soopers shoppers use double coupons," officials said.

The news release mentioned King Soopers' digital coupons several times saying the digital coupons can be downloaded while customers shop and that the digital coupons are growing in popularity.

Daily believes she and other couponers won’t save as much now that King Soopers is opting for more of its digital coupons while refusing to double manufacture coupons.  

“By the store issuing the digital coupon they know when their sale dates are, and they know when they’re giving you the coupon and they may not necessarily give you the coupon at the same time the price of the product is lower,” said Daily.

Daily also believes pushing digital coupons will also put some people out.

“There’s still a huge segment of the population, probably those who need to coupon the most, who don’t have access to computers or don’t have the ability to download a digital coupon,” said Daily. 

King Soopers operates 149 stores in Colorado.
