DENVER – A Colorado group is demanding the CEO of the Walt Disney Company to step down from Trump’s Business Advisory Council.
Members of Colorado People’s Alliance, a progressive activist group, are planning to protest outside Disney’s annual shareholders' meeting being held in Denver Wednesday morning.
Shareholders will gather for the meeting at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver.
The group argues Disney CEO Bob Iger’s presence on Trump’s Council aligns him and his company with racism and anti-immigration policies.
According to Colorado People’s Alliance, they have collected petitions with 500,000 signatures urging Iger to step down from Trump’s Business Advisory Council.
The Walt Disney Company has yet to comment on Iger's participation with the forum. He missed the first meeting last month because of what was described as a scheduling conflict.
The CEOs of other companies have felt the pressure to leave Trump’s advisory council. The embattled CEO of Uber, Travis Kalanick, resigned from the president’s forum last month after a Twitter campaign to delete the Uber app.
The group plans to gather around 9 a.m. at Sculpture Park next to the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
