Lots of celebrity moms-to-be document every moment of their pregnancy, from taking the test to snuggling up with their child for the very first time. But Mindy Kaling does things a little differently. In a late-night TV interview, she recently revealed that she recently gave birth to her second baby, whom most of the world didn’t even know was on the way!

Kaling dropped the new on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” and it would have been a huge surprise to viewers had it not been for the pretty obvious clues that were sprinkled on social media ahead of the interview.

“The hilarious @mindykaling will be our guest this Thursday night and you don’t want to miss it because she has huge news to announce!” tweeted the show’s official Twitter account on Oct. 6.

The breadcrumbs continued to fall when, a couple of days later, Kaling tweeted that she was going to “drop some big news” on the show.

A few hours later, the show tweeted that it was “the best kind of news” and added a baby face emoji.

Colbert broke the news on the show, telling viewers they will be “thrilled to find out something extraordinary that nobody knows up until this moment.”

“I’m telling it for the first time now, it feels so strange,” Kaling said in the interview. “But I gave birth to a baby boy on September 3.”

“No one even knew you were pregnant!” Colbert said, on behalf of the entire world.

“I know! I know! This is news to a lot of people,” Kaling said. “It’s true,” she added, revealing that her son’s name is Spencer.

Spencer is two and a half years younger than his sister, Katherine (Kit). Initially, Kaling kept that pregnancy a secret too, but revealed to Oprah Winfrey (and the rest of the world) that she was five months pregnant during their press tour for their 2018 movie, “A Wrinkle in Time.”

Katherine Swati Kaling was born on Dec. 15, 2017, and named in honor of Kaling’s mother, Swati, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2012.

In 2019, Mindy opened up about being a mom, telling Glamour, “I always knew I wanted to be a mom, but I would have put it off and put it off. I’m happy that it happened when it did.”

During her virtual sit-down with Colbert, she also revealed that her close friend and former “The Office” co-star, B.J. Novak, is godfather to both of her kids.
