Free mammograms Tuesday in Northglenn

Posted

North Metro Fire Rescue District is teaming up with St. Joseph Hospital to raise awareness about breast cancer risks and to offer free mammograms in Northglenn on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Women, ages 40 and older, are invited to visit North Metro Fire’s Station 62 at 10550 Huron St. in Northglenn to receive a free mammogram through St. Joseph’s mobile mammography van. Exams take less than 20 minutes and are conducted by St. Joseph’s trained specialists and breast radiologists.

“Prevention and early detection are a woman’s best chance against cancer. Our goal for this community event is to help detect potential cancer risks through the screening and to provide important health education to residents,” explained Pam Kutchen, Life Safety Education Officer for North Metro Fire.

In order to receive a free mammogram, women should contact Jackie at St. Joseph at (303) 318-3419 to schedule an appointment and review a list of qualifications. All insurances are accepted and billed if the patient has insurance, with the exception of Kaiser Permanente. Those members may get a mammogram at the Kaiser Permanente Breast Center.

According to the National Cancer Institute, breast cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer-related death in women.
