DENVER – When you think about light, what comes to mind? The Denver Art Museum will try to explore that same topic through art this coming spring with “The Light Show.”
Featuring about 250 objects from the DAM’s nine curatorial departments, a spokesperson for the Denver Art Museum said “The Light Show” will explore the physical and symbolic representations of light in art thought-provoking narrative.
The exhibition will focus on the quest by humanity and artists to understand physical light in the natural world, as well as “metaphorical, spiritual, and divine representations of light,” states a press release about the exhibition.
DAM officials said “The Light Show” will open in two stages: The first, focused on physical light, will open May 19; the second, presenting symbolic light, will open on June 2.
“The exhibition will help visitors reflect on a variety of light-related themes through a broad range of materials and artworks, including ancient sculptures, paintings, photography, textiles, and contemporary installations,” the press release states.
The exhibition will be on display from June 2 to May 3, 2020.
