The Brown Palace Hotel is turning 125 and the city is celebrating accordingly

DENVER – The Brown Palace Hotel, which opened its doors just 16 years after Colorado was given statehood, is celebrating 125 years.

To celebrate this milestone, the Brown Palace Hotel has already hosted several events, including a dedication and installation of a Mile High marker on the Grand Staircase.

Here are other events taking place through the weekend:

Saturday, Aug. 12:

Tours. The hotel will hold special historic tours of the Brown and its neighbors, the Navarre Building and Trinity Methodist Church. The tours will be guided by hotel historian Debra Faulkner.

The tours, which last approximately two hours, will run at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. The come at a price of $25 per person, but there is no charge for overnight guests.

Live music in the atrium. If you’d like to hear some good music, head over to the atrium starting Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets start at $40.

After-hours speakeasy at the Brown Palace Club. All you can eat/drink, with appetizers, desserts and featuring Stranahan’s Anniversary Whiskey from the barrel. It’s all starting at 9 p.m. and will go until 1 a.m. You’ll have to dish out $125 to get in.

Sunday, Aug. 13

Live music in the atrium. If you’d like to hear some good music, head over to the atrium starting Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets start at $40.

Prime Rib Special. Enjoy some prime rib at Ships Tavern and a dinner special paired with Strange Craft Beer brewed for the occasion and aged in Strahan’s Whiskey barrels from Friday through Sunday.
