Pueblo County has reported its first human death this year from West Nile virus.
The Denver Postreports the Pueblo City-County Health Department announced the death Thursday but did not release the victim's name, age or gender.
Initial human symptoms of West Nile virus can include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, weakness and rash. More severe symptoms can include stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors, vision loss and paralysis.
Health officials say people should take precautions by using mosquito repellent and otherwise avoiding mosquito bites.
