Cancer patients and survivors, and their loved ones and supporters, will join a special walk in Denver Thursday night.

The 2015 Rocky Mountain Light The Night Walk begins at 5:30 p.m. at Washington Park at 701 S. Franklin St.

"Light The Night is an evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood cancers," the Leukemia and Lymphona Society Rocky Mountain Chapter stated.

Patients and survivors will carry white lanterns, friends and survivors will carry red lanterns and gold lanterns will be carried in memory of lost loved ones.

The evening includes refreshments, entertainment, music and kids' activities, organizers said.

"All cancer survivors in attendance are our honored guests and will receive a t-shirt, illuminated balloon and wristband for refreshments at the walk regardless of the fundraising level," organizers said on the website.

Light The Night walks are also being held across the country, in cities including New York, Boston, Orlando, Tucson, Grand Rapids and more.
