Day of Action: Activists stand on street corners to fight for universal health care

DENVER -- Whatever your stance, health care in general is in limbo as the country waits to see if the Trump administration decides to take on Obamacare again.

Meantime, groups across the nation are taking part in a national day of action. The groups want improved Medicare for all.

Denver7 talked with Rochelle Cohen as she held up signs on a street corner across the street from Denver Health.

"Health care should be available to everybody, regardless of a person's income," she said.

Cohen is a Pediatrician.

"I know it from both sides, provider and patient. When you're sick, you should not be worrying about how you pay your bills, feeding your family, getting an education. It should be publicly funded."

The future of health care in the United States is uncertain. Last month, the Republican's repeal and replace plan came to a halt.

"We had no Democrat support. We had no votes from the Democrats. They weren't going to give us a single vote so it's a very difficult thing to do," President Trump told reporters back in March.

Meanwhile, activists are trying to get their message across for healthcare for all.

"They weren't able to put together exactly a plan all the Republicans could agree on," said Eric Wright who also took part in the Day of Action in Denver. "It's a little hard to tell if they are ever going to agree or what it's going to look like."

Don't expect a second repeal and replace effort right away. Congress is set to go on Easter recess April 10.
