Bonfils Blood Center is in need of blood donations to make up for hundreds of donations that were not collected during this week's snowstorm.
It is nearly 400 donations behind it's weekly goal. That is more than ten percent of what it needs each week to meet its patients needs, according to Bonfils.
Donations are also down because of cold and flu season.
Everyone who comes to donate at one of Bonfils’ community donor centers or mobile blood drives Friday, Feb. 5 through Sunday, Feb. 7 will be automatically entered to win a Broncos football autographed by defensive end Malik Jackson.
The Blood center is also in a heated hashtag battle with Community Blood Center of the Carolinas - it’s #BleedOrange vs. #BleedBlue.
On Sunday, Feb. 7 Bonfils’ Highlands Ranch community donor center will also be celebrating its new Sunday hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with special treats for donors, including a laser-signed John Elway photo. All Bonfils community donor centers will be closing by 3 p.m. Sunday ahead of the big game.
To make an appointment, visit bonfils.orgor call 303.363.2300. Those wishing to donate in honor of wounded Denver Police Sgt. Tony Lopez, Jr., may do so at any Bonfils community donor center by mentioning code #7281.
Nearly 600 people have donated blood in the officer's honor since he was shot in December.
