DENVER — The Denver Board of Education presented a finalist in its search for the next Denver Public Schools superintendent Thursday.

Susana Cordova, who is currently the district’s deputy superintendent, was named as the finalist.

She is a DPS graduate and has spent her career in classrooms as a bilingual secondary teacher, principal of a high-needs elementary school and administrator.

The Board of Education intended to present multiple finalists, but all of them, with the exception of Cordova, withdrew from consideration.

A period of final engagement will run from Dec. 5 through Dec. 14 with students, families, educators and community members. This will help the board make its final decision on Dec. 17.
