DENVER -- The month of August is pretty much the official end of summer -- for kids, anyway -- and they are faced once again with the grim reality of the start of yet another school year.

So when does your child have to go back to school in Colorado? We've compiled a list of the major school districts in the area, as well as the dates they each welcome students from kindergarten to high school.
Douglas County School District:
- Monday, Aug. 8
Aurora Public Schools:
- Monday, Aug. 8: Grades 6 - 12
- Wednesday, Aug. 10: Grades 1 - 5
- Monday, Aug. 15: Kindergarten + Preschool
Cherry Creek Schools:
- Thursday, Aug. 11.
Denver Public Schools:
- Monday, Aug. 22
Jefferson Public Schools:
- Thursday, Aug. 18.
Adams 12 Five Star Schools:
- Tuesday, Aug. 16: Grades K through 9
- Wednesday, Aug. 17: All other students
Poudre School District:
- Thursday, Aug. 18: Grades 9 through 12
- Monday, Aug. 22: K through 8
Thompson School District:
- Monday, Aug. 22: Grades 6 through 12
- Tuesday, Aug. 23: Grades K through 5
Boulder Valley School District:
- Thursday, Aug. 18: Grades 1 through 5
- Friday, Aug. 19: Grades 6 and Grade 9
- Monday/Tuesday, Aug. 22, 23: Grades 7, 8, 10 through 12
- Kindergarten has a staggered start
