GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- New owners of a $2.2 million historic castle built in 1899 plan to rent rooms and expand tours for the public.
The Post Independent reports the Redstone Castle's sale to Hotel Denver owners Steve and April Carver closed in early November after the couple topped bids from two competitors in an October auction.
John D. Rockefeller, J. Pierpont Morgan and Teddy Roosevelt have all stayed at the 23,000-square-foot residence that was originally built for mining magnate John C. Osgood.
The Carvers say they plan to fold the mansion into their hotel operation to the north in Glenwood Springs.
They also want to bring tours to more areas of the castle and grounds.
The first rooms for rent since 2002 could be available by next summer.
