DENVER – A Colorado restaurant and a chef made it to the final round of the 2017 James Beard awards.
Boulder’s Frasca Food and Wine was named a finalist for the Outstanding Restaurant award and is one of six restaurants competing for the title. Frasca has won the James Beards awards for Outstanding Wine Service and Best Chef: Southwest, according to The Denver Post.
Frasca is looking to expand and a new spot is planned to open in Denver near Union Station later this year.
Chef Steve Redzikowski of Denver’s Acorn restaurant is competing for the Best Chef award with five other big names in the southwest. He has been a finalist in the past, but has never made it to the final round, the Denver Post also reported.
The James Beard Foundation Awards are known as the Oscars of the food world and are the highest honor for food and beverage professionals in America.
Winners will be announced May 1.
