Summer is just about here! If you’re already planning how to get a head start on your time in the sun, you might want to add a trip to your local L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Program center to the schedule next week — it’s where you can learn a new skill for free!

From May 25 to June 30, all L.L. Bean Discovery Courses will be free for everyone thanks to a partnership with Mastercard. You can learn how to shoot arrows with an archery class or work on your balance on a paddleboard. Other available learning activities include kayaking, sporting clays, fly-casting, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and more.

If you’re not up for trying something too adventurous, outdoor photography and bird-watching are also on the list, so you can do a more leisurely activity and still learn something new.

No matter what you choose from the range of introductory activities, it will be completely free. Discovery Courses typically cost $25 and are led by experts who love the outdoors. And no, you do not have to have experience in the activity you choose — they are all introductory-level.

To find a location near you and sign up for a class, just visit L.L. Bean’s website. While locations don’t exist in every state, you will find them in Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

“At L.L.Bean, we believe the outdoors is the most inclusive club there is and we encourage everyone to ‘Be an Outsider’ with their family and friends,” Gretchen Ostherr, director of outdoor discovery programs at L.L.Bean, said in a press release. “Getting outdoors is always better with a partner, so we’re thrilled to have the support of Mastercard to offer these courses, making it easy for families of all kinds to experience the joy of the outdoors.”

Discovery course participants will also get a discount of 20% off their next L.L.Bean purchase. Sounds like a great incentive to get active outside!
