Comedian Kathy Griffin wed her longtime boyfriend, Randy Bick, in a surprise ceremony on New Year’s Day 2020. The secret wedding took place at Griffin’s home and was officiated by actor Lily Tomlin. The couple first let fans know that they were about to tie the knot in a video posted to Twitter on New Year’s Eve.

“Happy new year!” they declared as they both walked into the shot. “And surprise — we’re getting married!”

“Tonight — after midnight!” Griffin, 59, clarified with a laugh.

“She said yes!” added Bick.

“All right, go check my feed. We’re doing it after midnight West Coast time,” the comedian explained. “Very atypical, very fun. And you’re going to die when you see the officiant.”

“All right love you guys,” said Griffin, then instructed her soon-to-be husband to “Give me a kiss.”

When he obliged, she joked, “Oh my God, you pervert! I’m a virgin,” before playfully pushing him away and then joining hands and dancing happily.

Later, she updated her followers with a quick glimpse of the intimate ceremony:

“The entire ceremony was just under 14 minutes, but I have to give you guys the uncut first 75 seconds,” she wrote alongside the video clip. “LOVE IT! We promised you atypical. We are in love and cannot stop laughing. Thank you @LilyTomlin and Jane Wagner! #HappyNewYear.”

“We are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Randy Bick and Kathy Griffin,” Tomlin began the ceremony. “What was supposed to be a shallow, tooted and booted one-night-stand has grown and flourished to something far more meaningful. They stayed together — then they couldn’t stay away from one another.”

Aww!

For the nuptials, Griffin wore the same dress she wore on her first formal date with Bick back in 2011. She posted a cute image of that event on Twitter:

Although the pair separated for a brief period, Griffin explained that they soon realized they were meant to be together.

“And now, we just came to the decision that we’ve really been through so much together,” she told Entertainment Tonight in October 2019. “We’ve now been together for over eight years. Even though he’s 19 years younger, we both turned to each other and realized, this is the longest relationship for both of us, you know? We should fight for it and make it work.”

Bick, a 41-year-old marketing director who acts as Griffin’s tour manager, also posted about the wedding on his Twitter feed, thanking fans for their love and support.
