If you think Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are a bit of an odd couple, you’re not alone. In fact, even they themselves sometimes wonder how they ended up together. In a funny Super Bowl spot for T-Mobile, Stefani and Shelton made light of their “opposites attract” relationship.

The commercial shows Stefani calling up her “The Voice” co-star Adam Levine to tell him she’s ready to start dating and meet a completely different type of guy. Thanks to poor cellular service, Levine hears that she’s looking for a man who is  “completely country, uncultured and threatened by a strong, confident woman,” when Stefani really said she’s looking for a partner who is “completely different — maybe from a different country, and someone cultured, sensitive and who’s not threatened by a strong, confident woman.”

Levine understandably looks a little puzzled, but when Shelton sidles up to him bearing wings and nachos, he confidently tells Stefani, “I have your guy.”

Check out the whole cheeky ad that played during the Super Bowl in the clip below:

The next shot cuts to Stefani and Shelton meeting up on a date presumably set up by Levine.

“Are you wearing spurs? Did you ride a horse here?” Stefani asks Shelton incredulously.

Shelton simply replies with an indignant, “Yeah!”

The narrator then cuts in with a pithy directive for viewers to not “trust your love life to just any network.”

Shelton asks Stefani if she needs a ride home, and her expression indicates that she’s considering it.

While they might not have a lot in common on the surface, this couple proves that we don’t always end up with the type of person we expect. They’ve been dating since 2015, and in October 2020, they got engaged.

They frequently collaborate professionally, and they obviously don’t mind having a laugh at themselves!
