At least 24 people have lost their lives in the two tornadoes that ravaged Davidson, Putnam, Benton and Wilson counties in Tennessee. In addition, thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed.

On the heels of this tragedy, there have been numerous acts of kindness and generosity that have helped to bring comfort to the people of Tennessee. Now, Gibson — the famous guitar company based in Nashville, Tennessee — is lending a helping hand as well by providing guitars to the musicians who lost their instruments in the natural disaster.

“Our goal is to get a guitar back into the hands of anyone who has had their guitar damaged or destroyed in the recent Tennessee storm,” Dendy Jarrett, executive director of Gibson Gives, said in a press release on the company’s website.

Gibson Foundation

Gibson Gives was first established in 2002 with the goal of providing the gift of music to children, students, veterans and more. Since its inception, Gibson Gives has donated thousands of guitars as well as over $30 million to help promote music education and accessibility across the country.

Those who lost their instruments in the recent Tennessee tornadoes can reach out to Gibson Gives by emailing the nonprofit at donation.request@gibson.com and sharing their story.

In addition to the donations from the iconic guitar company, country music stars have also stepped up to support the people of Tennessee.

Chris Young gave $50,000 to the Music City Inc. Foundation, an organization that is channeling money, services and other resources to tornado victims. Young tweeted about his anguish at seeing the devastation of his beloved city, and he encouraged others to donate as well.

Other celebrities like Brad Paisley, Justin Timberlake, Caleb Followill and Lily Aldridge have also supported humanitarian efforts in the state.

You can also help support Tennessee families by buying a “Keep the Music Playing” T-shirt from the Music City Inc. Foundation, which takes its name from Nashville’s famous nickname, the Music City. The T-shirts are available for pre-order now for $24.99 each, and orders will begin shipping on March 13. All of the proceeds from these T-shirt sales go toward tornado relief.
