You may not be able to venture very far right now, but there are ways to get into more interesting places than your living room and the grocery store. Thanks to modern technology, you may be able to tick a few must-see destinations off your bucket list — virtually, at least.

Frank Lloyd Wright buildings are some of the newest places you can explore from your sofa.

“It is precisely at this time, when so many are shut inside, that we need to experience beauty and inspiration,” the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy said, per The Spaces.

Wright designed more than 1,100 buildings during his career (although only 532 were built and about 400 still stand), and 17 of them are participating in the virtual project.

Hollyhock House, Taliesin, Taliesen West, Unity Temple, the Emil Bach House, Fallingwater, the Westcott House, the Kraus House, the Laurent House, the Seth Peterson House, the Gordon House, Graycliff, the Martin House, the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio, the Rookery, the Robie House, the Willey House and Samara are taking part. The managing organizations of these properties will share a short video of another Wright-designed house on their social media channels at 12 p.m. CST every Thursday over the coming weeks during a virtual swap.

The #WrightVirtualVisits initiative is a collaboration between the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, the Unity Temple Restoration Foundation, and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation (which runs Taliesin and Taliesin West). The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust, which manages the artist’s home and studio and four other buildings in the Chicago area, is also involved.

On April 2, the Westcott House, which was designed in 1906 and built in 1908, shared a video from Fallingwater director Justin Gunther’s personal archive. The 1930s home Fallingwater, one of Wright’s most famous houses, is in rural southwestern Pennsylvania.

“In these difficult times, we can all get some comfort from the beauty found in the places we care about the most,” says the caption. “Since Fallingwater is closed to the public and Justin can’t share the interior with you in person, he’s giving us a glimpse of the exterior of the house and landscape.”

On April 9, the Gordon House, the only Wright-designed building in Oregon, gave its Instagram followers a look into the dining cove at Scottsdale, Arizona’s Taliesin West. Taliesin West was the architect’s home and school for the last two decades of his life.

Meanwhile, Hollyhock House, Wright’s first Los Angeles project, shared a virtual tour of Unity Temple, highlighting the Oak Park, Illinois, landmark’s “striking cast-concrete ornamentation and bold massing.”

You may not be able to visit any of Frank Lloyd Wright’s buildings in person due to stay-at-home orders, but that doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate them from afar!
