DENVER -- Denver's normal home for first downs and interceptions became a home for guitar riffs and drum solos on Wednesday night, as Metallica brought their WorldWired tour to town.

Fifty-thousand people were expected at Sports Authority Field for the show, which also included Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat.

"What we're going to see tonight is an epic display of radness," Ty Widhalm, a devoted fan, told Denver7.

Widhalm came all the way from Hawaii for the show. His family lives in Colorado.

"Well, really I'm here for the concert but the family is here," he said with a laugh.

Denver Police reported no major issues during the pre-show tailgating and gatherings.
