DENVER -- Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy.  Here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in Denver this weekend.

Denver Film Festival

What: As the largest film gathering in the Rocky Mountain region, the Denver Film Festival is a film-lovers paradise with more than 250 films from around the world, including premieres, tributes, awards, parties, celebrity appearances and more.  It runs November 2nd through 13th.  Make it a movie marathon or just choose the films that peak your interest.

Where: SIE Film Center, 2510 East Colfax, Denver, Colo.; and other various Denver locations.

Colorado Country Christmas Gift Show

What:  Let the holiday shopping season begin!  A unique experience awaits you at the Colorado Country Christmas Gift Show.  Discover new gift ideas, original arts and crafts, sculpture, ceramics, specialty foods, home décor, clothing, furniture, jewelry, antiques, candles, toys and more.   Bring the kids to see the live model train display and walk through the Hammonds candy wonderland, or maybe they would like to share their wish list with Santa.

Denver Arts Week

What: A week-long event celebrating the city’s vibrant arts and cultural scene, featuring more than 300 events spanning locations from local art galleries and museums, to theaters and concert halls. On Saturday, Denver’s museums will stay open late, with free admission between 5 and 10 p.m.  Take advantage of the free shuttle that will make it easier for you explore all evening.

Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo

What: Gear up for another season on the slopes at the 25th annual Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo.  Not only will you be able to shop ski and snowboard gear at super discounted prices, you’ll be entertained by interactive exhibits like an aerial trampoline show, live music, a beer garden and more.  Plus an all-season adventure area complete with climbing wall and ropes course, and a kids learn to ski and snowboard area.

Jewelry & Holiday Gift Fair

What:  It’s never too early to start your holiday shopping.  From handcrafted items to commercial retailers, this show will feature over 125 exhibitors displaying jewelry, accessories, holiday gifts and more.

Where: Highlands Ranch Recreation Center at Eastridge, 9568 University Blvd., Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Day of the Dead Celebration

What:  Longmont’s annual Dia de los Muertos, a tradition in Mexico honoring loved ones who have passed, is the largest Day of the Dead celebration in Colorado.  This fun community event will be filled with live music and dancing, traditional food and more.  And kids will love the sugar skull decorating, paper flower making and face painting.  Come dressed in a skeleton costume to compete for prizes.

Where: Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, Longmont, Colo.

When:  Saturday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Pumpkin Smash

What:  Don’t trash it, “Smash” it.  Bring your tired old jack-o-lanterns to the annual Pumpkin Smash.  There will be pumpkin smashing stations, games, contests, music and more.   Whether your smash preference is a Gallagher-style mallet or a slingshot, have some fun and join this community composting crusade
