Denver Film Festival

What:  The largest film gathering in the Rocky Mountain region continues through this Sunday. The Denver Film Festival is a film-lovers paradise with more than 250 films from around the world, including premieres, tributes, awards, parties, celebrity appearances and more.  Make it a movie marathon or just choose the films that peak your interest.

Where: SIE Film Center, 2510 East Colfax, Denver, Colo.; and other various Denver locations.

Hammond’s Candy Factory Tour

What: Kids out of school this Friday? Take them to Colorado’s very own Hammond’s Candy Factory for a free tour.  Factory tours run every half-hour Monday through Saturday.  Watch candy makers as they hand-pull and twist oversize candy canes, ribbon candy, lollipops and chocolate.  It’s educational fun for candy lovers of all ages.  And bonus, every tour guest gets a free candy sample.

What:  Start your holiday shopping at the annual Botanic Gardens Winter Gift Market.  Browse vendors selling one-of-a-kind handcrafted items, bath and body products, pottery, jewelry, specialty foods, clothing and antiques.   Plus, the popular homemade gourmet herbal vinegars and seasonings, infused with herbs from the Gardens, will also be available for purchase courtesy of the Botanic Gardens’ Guild.

Four Mile Historic Park Free Day

What: It’s a free day at the Four Mile Historic Park.  You’ll feel like you’ve traveled back in time as you wander this 1859 farm.  Pan for gold, meet the farm animals and more.   You can enjoy free admission at this Denver landmark on the second Friday of each month.

$5 Day at Butterfly Pavilion

What:  Enjoy all that the Butterfly Pavilion has to offer for just $5 general admission on Saturday.  Journey through the new and improved Crawl-a-See-Em, hold Rosie the tarantula, touch a starfish, and take a stroll through the rainforest with 1,600 butterflies fluttering about.

Denver Veteran’s Day Parade and Festival

What:  Join the community in a salute to our Veterans.  The parade will circle Civic Center Park, and there will be great spectator viewing spots along the route. After the parade, celebrate our Veterans at this family-friendly festival.   Enjoy an afternoon of live music, vendors, kids’ activities and food.  The festival will feature static displays of both vintage and modern military vehicles to explore.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science Free Day

What: Enjoy a free day at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  Fees still apply for IMAX, Planetarium and temporary exhibitions.
