Chainsaws and Chuckwagons
What: Witness chainsaw art from start to finish, as master carvers turn ordinary logs into unique pieces of art. The wood chips start flying Wednesday morning on Main Street and will continue through Saturday, when the public is invited to vote for their favorite. Take advantage of the live music and food trucks, or “chuckwagons” that will set up each evening. The event wraps up Saturday with more live music, food, the CO Craft Beer Round Up, and kid’s activities.

When: Thursday and Friday: 4 p.m.-8 p.m.; and Saturday: 12 p.m.-8 p.m. (Watch carving each day 10 a.m.-5 p.m.)

Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves
What: The Rockies are in town for a home stand against the Braves this weekend. Head to the ballpark, grab a hot dog, and sit back to enjoy the ambiance of Coors Field.

Butterflies at Chatfield
What: Butterflies have headed south for the summer. The Butterfly Pavilion’s seasonal butterfly house is open at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms. This one-of-a-kind butterfly experience features hundreds of butterflies native to Colorado, as well as over 50 indigenous Colorado plant species. Note this exhibit requires a separate admission ticket.
Where: Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, Colo.
When: Daily: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Butterfly exhibit open through October. Check website for periodic closure dates.)
Admission: $4 – Non-Members; $2 – Denver Botanic Gardens or Butterfly Pavilion Members; Kids 2 years and under are free. Non-Members also required to pay Chatfield Farms entry fee of $5 per vehicle.

Touch-A-Truck Event
What: Bring the kids to explore and climb on their favorite big rigs and meet some hometown heroes. Fire engines, police cars, construction trucks, a dump truck, and even a Batmobile. Throw in a couple bounce houses and this will be a day the kids will remember.

Dinosaur Express Train
What: Travel back in time to the Jurassic period as you ride the historic steam locomotive, following the dinosaur tracks around the Museum’s 15-acre rail yard. Kids will also enjoy sifting through sand in search of fossils, constructing dinosaur bone puzzles, and other prehistoric activities.

Arvada on Tap: A Craft Beer and BBQ Festival
What: Craft brews and barbeque seem to go hand in hand. You’ll be able to sample from a huge variety of craft brews and get your barbeque fix as well. Plus arts and crafts, live music and games. (Note kids are welcome but there will be limited activities to keep them entertained.)
