Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy.  Here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in Denver this weekend.  

Thursday - Sunday

Douglas County Fair and Rodeo

What:  It’s Douglas County fair time.  This long- time Colorado tradition promises to be fun for the whole family.   Highlights include PRCA Rodeos, Xtreme Bulls, antique tractor pull, mutton bustin’, stick horse rodeo, 4-H exhibits, concerts, carnival rides and games, and more.   

Where: Douglas County Fairgrounds & Events Center, 500 Fairgrounds Dr., Castle Rock, Colo.

When: Thursday: 2 p.m.-11 p.m.; Friday: 12 p.m.-11:30 p.m., Saturday: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m., Sunday: 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Admission:  Grounds Admission Friday & Saturday:  $6 – Adults; Kids 7 years and under are free.  And everyone gets FREE admission on Thursday and Sunday.   (Note: Some events will require a separate ticketed admission.  Check website for details.)

Colorado Renaissance Festival

What: It’s the final weekend of this annual summer tradition.  So if you have not visited this year, take a day trip to the Renaissance Festival for music, magic and merriment.

Where: 650 W. Perry Park Ave., Larkspur, Colo.

When: Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. 

Admission: $22 – Adults; $10 – Kids 5-12 years; Kids under 5 years are free.  (Discount tickets available online.)

Free Day at Denver Art Museum

What:  Enjoy free admission to the Denver Art Museum with full access to the art collections and non-ticketed exhibitions.  Plus family friendly activities including hands-on artmaking, storytelling and special dance performances from 1-3 p.m. as part of the summer celebration of Dance!

Where: Denver Art Museum, 100 W. 14th Avenue Parkway, Denver, Colo.

Dam Ducky Derby

What:  This annual festival is full of family fun including live music, food and tons of kid’s activities.  The highlight of the event happens at the Evergreen Dam where the Evergreen Fire & Rescue Department‘s ladder truck drops over 5,000 numbered ducks into the creek and onlookers watch the ducks race down Bear Creek to the finish line.

Where: Main Street, Downtown Evergreen, Colo.

When: Saturday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.  (Duck drop at 1 p.m.)

Admission: Free (Ducks must be purchased for a chance to win prizes.)

Leftapalooza 2016

What:  Left Hand Brewing’s ultimate music and craft beer event is back, showcasing some of Colorado’s best tribute bands.  Enjoy craft beer and a full day of great music featuring covers from The Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen, The Pretenders, The Who, REM, Van Halen and more.  All ages are welcome. A Kid’s Activity Zone and food will also be on-site.  Bring the family, the lawn chairs and sunscreen and get ready to dance.

When:  Saturday: 12 p.m.-10 p.m.
