7 things to do in Denver this weekend, June 19-21

There's plenty to do across the Denver area this weekend, all while staying safe and socially distant. Enjoy!

• Denver Pride is this weekend! You can stream the Coors Light Virtual Denver Pride Parade on TheDenverChannel.com, the Denver7 Facebook and the Denver7 streaming app on your favorite streaming device. The parade will air on Sunday 6/21 at 9:30am and will re-air later that day from 3:00 – 4:00pm. Head to the Denver Pride website for more information and events happening throughout the weekend!

• Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day and Cel-Liberation Day, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865. Denver’s Juneteenth Music Festival is going virtual and invites all to join, online, for a positive, educational and entertaining celebration of African American history. Events will start on Thursday, June 18th and the celebrations will continue on Friday, June 19th. Check out their website and Facebook for more information about the upcoming festivities.

• Take a tour of the Hammond’s Candy Factory for free. Hammond’s Candies has been making candies in Denver for 100 years. The local candy company offers free 30-minute factory tours from Monday through Friday. The tour gives an up close and personal look at how their candies are made, while learning about their history and fun tidbits about the nostalgic candy you know and love. Reservations are required to guarantee tour availability. Online tour bookings must be made 24 hours in advance, but they do accept walk-ins based on availability. • Head to the Denver Mart Drive-In to catch a double feature for $10! Tickets are selling out weeks in advance, so plan early and get your tickets now! The Denver Mart Drive in is in its sixth year and has room for 140 cars per night. Gates open at 8pm!

• Who doesn’t love a good flea market? Formally known as the Denver Flea, Fetch Market is taking place over seven weekends this summer starting this coming Saturday 6/20 from 10am – 6pm and Sunday 6/21 10am – 5pm. Fetch Market will be taking place at Stanley Marketplace all summer. Keeping community health in mind, they are hosting smaller more frequent markets than in years past, but will still offer a chance to support local and small businesses.

• Celebrate Father’s Day with a drive-in Father’s Day movie this Sunday at the Victory Church parking lot in Westminster from 8pm-11pm. The event is completely free and will include a kid’s themed costume contest at 8pm (with prizes) followed by the feature film at sunset. Arrive early to get a parking spot, or bring chairs/blankets and spread outside. Food trucks will include El Turquito, Kona Ice and The Snowy Churro.

• Visit the Denver Firefighters Museum set in fire station #1 just off of Speer Blvd. Built in 1909, the firehouse showcases a century of historical artifacts and family interactive areas. The museum is scheduling family groups of 10 or less every 30 minutes, with 30 minutes to explore the ground floor and 30 minutes to explore the second floor. Family groups or individuals from the same household must book Self Guided Tours in advance before entering the museum.
