7 safe and socially distant things to do in Denver and beyond this weekend, Oct. 9-12, 2020

DENVER - Looking for something to do while we still have nice weather? Check out these suggestions for some socially distant and safe fun for the whole family!

1. There is something for everyone at Anderson Farms! From now until Oct. 31, you can explore their 25-acre corn maze, race barnyard 500 pedal carts, meet farm animals, climb the tire mountain, take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch and more! Enjoy concessions, live entertainment, or rent a private campfire site while searching for that perfect pumpkin. For those looking for something a little more spooky – Anderson Farms offers Terror in the Corn and a Zombie Paintball Hunt Thursday and Friday after dark. 2. Join Loveland’s Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt! More than 30 artistic scarecrows are waiting for you across the city – from Downtown Loveland to Centerra to fun places in between. Grab your map and camera, find the scarecrows, pose and submit your photos to their social media contest. Participants who submit all scarecrows will be entered to win a year’s worth of Chick-fil-a, a Loveland winter staycation and other Loveland goodies. This event is free and open to the public and runs from now until Oct. 31.

3. Looking for something spooky to do? Head to Fright Acres - Colorado’s largest outdoor haunted attraction venue. Fright Acres haunted attraction consists of four zones all linked together for one very long trek through different themes are dimensions. Get your tickets today!

4. Olde Town Arvada is hosting their annual Festival of Scarecrows. Saturday’s event will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will be a scaled-back, socially distant and mask wearing edition of Festival of Scarecrows. There will be a scarecrow judging contest, a giant pumpkin contest and harvest items available for donation. Enter your scarecrow in the contest here.

5. Back to the Source: Reclaiming Native American Food Traditions Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. The festival will hold a virtual film preview and fundraiser and will include a Native American chef’s demo livestream and a film program featuring Gather, a documentary about Native Americans recovering their traditional foodways. The Fundraiser proceeds will go to Flatirons Food Film Festival and First Nations Development Institute. Viewers can pre-order Native American takeout dinners from Tocabe to eat while watching Gather. This event will also be part of the City of Boulder’s Indigenous People’s Day weekend celebration. Tickets are $24.

6. Head to the Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) for A Yellow Rose: Photographs by 100+ Women in Response to the 19thAmendment. August 18, 2020 marked the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. It was on that day 100 years ago that women started wearing yellow roses and stood shoulder to shoulder in Tennessee awaiting the roll call of men that would cast their votes for or against a woman’s right to vote. Starting Oct. 9 and running through Nov. 21, CPAC will be featuring A Yellow Rose Project, which is a large scale collaboration made by women across the country. 7. Rascal Flatts is performing on Saturday night during the virtual fundraiser for Hearts and Horses! Hearts and Horses, a Loveland, Colorado nonprofit that provides equine therapy for people with special needs, will celebrate their 20thAnnual Gala virtually this year. The event is happening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday and is free to attend. You can livesteam the event through their website.
