Country superstar Darius Rucker continues to show he is a man of the people, and this time he’s done it by paying for everyone’s meals in an IHOP.

The “Beers and Sunshine” singer dined at the restaurant off a highway in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, in late January. Servers there said he also left a big tip for them — though they did not disclose how much Rucker spent in total.

He visits the IHOP a couple of times per month since it is near his Charleston home. The staff said most folks didn’t recognize him on that day because he was wearing a face mask, following COVID-19 safety guidelines.

In addition to his talent, Rucker is known for his generosity and has been honored for helping others. The Academy of Country Music gave him the Gary Haber Lifting Lives Award in 2018, honoring him for his commitment to serving others.

In 2017, he appeared in disguise on “Celebrity Undercover Boss” where he met a married couple seeking to make it in the music industry. After revealing who he was, Rucker gave the duo a $25,000 scholarship to attend the Musician’s Institute in California — and he mentored them.

Here’s a video promoting his appearance on the show, as posted on Facebook.

Rucker also hosts all-star tournaments and concerts that have furthered the mission of St. Jude’s Research Hospital. And in Charleston, the singer has hosted concerts to raise money for school supplies to go to students in the local schools.

The country musician recently made headlines for offering country band Lady A its membership into the Grand Ole Opry. One of the band’s members, Charles Kelley, often golfs with Rucker. He told the Charlotte Observer that Rucker’s performances with his original band, Hootie and the Blowfish, were inspirational on his own musical path.

Hootie and the Blowfish took a decade-long hiatus starting in 2008. Its members reunited in 2019 and the band remains active today, as evidenced by this recent tweet referencing their early days playing in South Carolina in the late ’80s and early ’90s:

Rucker and Lady A will appear on “Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music” when it airs on Feb. 14 on NBC.

We love that he bought meals for everyone at a restaurant for no reason other than he is so generous! You can get in on helping people through his charity, the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation, which not only aids those in South Carolina but nationwide.
