If you have a loving and faithful dog in your life, you probably lavish them with tasty treats. Pups enjoy ice cream just as much as their human friends do, but the kind we eat isn’t always the healthiest option for dogs because of all the sugar and other added ingredients.

Still, if you want to spoil your four-legged friend with a decadent (and safe-for-pups) icy dessert, Ben & Jerry’s has some great news for you: new dog-friendly ice cream treats!

The ingredients used in Doggie Desserts can be found in current Ben & Jerry’s ice cream recipes, though the base of the ice cream is made with dog-friendly sunflower butter.

“We know our fans love their dogs and treat them like family,” Lindsay Bumps, a Ben & Jerry’s Global Marketing Specialist and veterinary technician, said in a press release. “We created this product line so pups can enjoy something even better than belly rubs. Doggie Desserts are the sweetest treat they’ll ever put their paws on.”

The idea for the doggie treats came about as people are spending more time at home with their dogs — and right when many dog-lovers are even taking in new pets during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ben & Jerry’s also encourages employees in its headquarters to bring their dogs into the office, and the new treats were inspired by two of these company dogs. The first flavor, Rosie’s Batch, was named after this beautiful mixed-breed rescue dog and is a pumpkin-flavored ice cream mixed with mini cookie chunks.

The second flavor is called Pontch’s Mix and has a peanut butter ice cream base with pretzel swirls.

The Doggie Desserts will be sold individually in 4-ounce mini cups for a suggested retail price of $2.99 and in four-packs for $4.99. Customers can find them in retailers, grocery stores and select pet stores nationwide.

If you’d rather make some delicious dog desserts at home, try one of these dog-friendly ice cream recipes that PetSmart shared on National Ice Cream Day last summer. Most of the recipes only call for a few simple ingredients, like bananas, yogurt, honey and peanut butter.
