Aww, “Avatar” director James Cameron sent a tweet of congratulations to Marvel Studios when the news came out that “Avengers: Endgame” overtook the film as the highest-grossing movie of all-time.

It’s a pretty big deal: The popular superhero film has earned more than $2.79 billion dollars worldwide. “Avatar” was released in 2009, so it’s been a decade since anything rose to become a box office behemoth at that level.

“Avengers: Endgame” was released by Marvel Studios in April 2019, and Marvel pulled out all the stops to get to the top.

Cameron’s tweet, posted to @officialavatar, shows Iron Man in “Avatar”‘s universe, and says “Oel ngati kameie,” which means “I see you” in Na’vi, the language of his alien beings.

The film was re-released a few months after its initial box office debut with a post-credits trailer for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and included an unfinished, deleted Hulk scene. The re-release also included a tribute to the recently deceased Stan Lee, Marvel Comics’ creative leader.

In all, there were more than 6 minutes of added content in the “Bring Back” version. Basically, the biggest Marvel fans likely saw the film intheaters multiple times to catch all the extras.

And why not? “Avengers: Endgame” is awesome!

Here’s why we are big fans of this movie:

1. It Has A Star-Studded Cast Of Hollywood Giants

We’re talking about Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Don Cheadle, to name a few. Name some more? Okay … Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin. Whew!

The Film Had A Hefty Budget—And It Showed

“Endgame” is the sequel to “The Avengers” (2012), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015) and “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), but also followed 21 other related movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It was one of the most expensive films ever made, with a budget of $356 million. Marvel wasn’t messing around!

Avengers Fans Crashed Ticket Websites

Fandango and Atom Tickets both crashed just minutes after pre-sale tickets for “Avengers: Endgame” went on sale. People REALLY wanted to see it. When the sites were working, the film’s pre-sales started breaking records early on.

“Endgame’ brought Ant-Man and the Hulk together

“Avengers: Endgame” was the first time Paul Rudd and Mark Ruffalo were together. They appear to get along pretty well. In this video, posted by Chris Evans, they actually seem to be playing peekaboo on set.
