DENVER -- Since 2009, thousands of Coloradans have donned their favorite costumes and team spirit to take the Polar Plunge to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympic Colorado, and Denver7 is a proud sponsor of this year's events. A few seconds of being cold and wet to create a lifetime of opportunities for our heroic athletes.
With seven different Plunge locations throughout the state, teams of friends and families can take the Polar Plunge wherever works best! Each Plunge features its own unique Winter Festival and After Party with vendors, restaurants, music and activities!

TheDenver Polar Plunge Splash & Dash includes an optional, timed, family friendly 5K through Auraria Campus where runners will explore the many scenic views it offers. Participants of the Denver Polar Plunge Splash & Dash will receive a free Elitch Gardens ticket to be used in the summer season. Additionally, for Elitch Gardens Season Passes purchased at the park on March 11th, the park will donate $5 of each pass directly to Special Olympics Colorado.
You can register for all the events at SpecialOlympicsCO.org/plungeco, but walk‐up registration is available. Participants are asked to raise or personally donate a minimum of $75 ($50 for students/athletes). If you’d rather not participate but still want to support the event, you can “hibernate” by raising $75 and still receive a Polar Plunge t-shirt.
All proceeds raised through the Special Olympics Colorado Polar Plunge Series help offset costs associated with sports training, competitions, youth leadership and health education for more than 23,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities here in Colorado. All programs and services are provided free of charge to athletes and families.

Special Olympics Colorado provides year-round training and competition in 22 sports for over 23,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities who are living in the state of Colorado. With the support of more than 11,000 volunteers and the generosity of Colorado citizens, corporations and local businesses, Special Olympics Colorado is able to offer more than 100 events annually to individuals ages 2 and up (oldest athlete is 78 years old). Participation with other athletes, Unified partners (typically developing peers), coaches, sponsors and volunteers builds confidence and creates opportunities to participate as productive and respected members of society by increasing public awareness of the athletes’ capabilities.
