Special Olympics Colorado track meet made possible by thousands of volunteers

DENVER -- Before Special Olympics Colorado athletes can walk down the track for their track and field competition at Denver’s South High School, hundreds of hours of work goes on behind the scenes putting it all together.

“It's really important because we provide opportunities for families who a lot of times think there aren't chances for their children to experience something like this,” regional Special Olympics Colorado director Sam Miller told Denver7’s Eric Lupher.

“It's really incredible to be a part of an organization that on a daily basis is able to provide opportunities like this,” he said.

Special Olympics Colorado has more than 9,000 volunteers in Colorado.
