Volunteer ad leads to long-term committment

Posted

After volunteering for other organizations, Carmen Blair spotted an ad for ARC volunteers at a local rec center and decided to try it out since it was near her home.  That was seven years ago and she’s never looked back.

“The people are so friendly, and even though some have developmental disabilities, they come up and hug you and you enjoy the day,” she told Denver7.

Blair is one of more than 20 volunteers being honored this month by Denver7 and US Bank for everything they do to make things possible in our community.

Blair helps price and organize items for sale at ARC’s store in Littleton.

“It’s important for the community because I want to do something for them,” Blair said. “I have done a different variety of volunteer work and it makes me feel good and makes the people I work for feel good too.”

Blair says everyone should volunteer.

“If they can come out and just give it a try they will stay.”
