Longmont Oktoberfest
What: Grab your stein. It is Oktoberfest season. The Left Hand Brewing Company leads this favorite fall gathering featuring ten bands and nine local breweries. Enjoy live music, German food, craft beer and fun festivities for all ages including a bratwurst eating contest, malt sack races and the first ever Locomotion parade, traveling down Main Street Saturday morning.

Colorado High Plains Balloon & Kite Festival
What: It’s a weekend full of aviation delights from colorful hot air balloons and kites of all shapes and sizes to agricultural drone demos and a chance to have a hands-on experience with a black hawk helicopter. Bring a blanket to kick back and watch the skies, plus enjoy other family fun activities, vendors, and arts and crafts.

When: Saturday: 6 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sunday: 6 a.m.-4 p.m.

A Day Out with Thomas: The Celebration Tour 2015
What: The event little engineers look forward to each year. Thomas fans of all ages are invited to spend the day with their favorite No. 1 engine. This event gives kids an opportunity to ride on board a train lead by Thomas and have their picture taken with Sir Topham Hatt. Admission includes access to museum exhibits, as well as special Thomas themed activities including a petting zoo, Imagination Station, sing-a-longs, and a magic show.

Denver Coliseum Mineral, Fossil and Gem Show
What: This annual show and sale features cool minerals, rare fossils, crystals, gems, artisan jewelry and more. Exhibitors will fill both floors of the Coliseum, plus spill into 100 tents outside. From the casual to the serious collector, there is something for everyone at this family friendly event.

Festival Italiano at Belmar
What: This annual two-day celebration of Italian culture will feature some of the finest Italian food, wine and artisan vendors. Plus kids’ activities, including face painting and the Balistreri Vineyard’s Children’s Grape Stomp.

What: Run for your father, your husband, your brother. Run for you in the annual Blue Shoe 5K Run/Walk benefiting the Urology Center of Colorado Foundation. If 5K isn’t your distance, there is also a 1.5-mile family walk and a kid’s fun run. Be sure to stick around after the event for one of the best post-race parties in Denver featuring food, drinks, live music, and kid’s activities.
