Roger from Denver writes, “Why was there construction going on in Cherry Creek this morning during rush hour closing all but one lane? This happened before 8:30 am during the peak rush hour and I sat in traffic for 30 minutes without moving! There was no signage in the days and week prior to the construction warning of this?”
Well Roger, you were stuck behind some paving work in the Country Club neighborhood.
The boundaries of the work is from E. 1st Ave over to E. 6th Ave north and south. Between Downing Street and University Boulevard east and west.
On most days, the work starts at 8:30 a.m. and lasts most of the day, usually until 3:30 p.m. The bad news is, the work will continue there in Cherry Creek as Denver Public Works will begin milling in Cherry Creek north from 3rd to 6th Avenues and Josephine to Steele Streets. This is one of the main targeted areas the city is trying to improve this summer.
Denver Public Works says they do put up signs warning of paving and aren’t sure why you didn’t get a heads up. Even though you might not have seen any signs warning you of the work, the information is available on the Denver Public Works Street Maintenance and Improvement page.
Here is the link to see if the summer paving work will slow you down again on your way to work.
