Mom's advice to CJ Anderson: Play your game

Mom's advice to CJ Anderson: Play your game
Posted

Denver Broncos running back CJ Anderson says his mom gave him some advice for the AFC Championship game this weekend.

Anderson said his mom told him to, "Just go back and play C.J."

"Play your game," Anderson quoted his mom as saying. "You don’t have to do anything extraordinary. You don’t have to do anything special. Just go out there and play football."

Anderson joined the Broncos as a college free agent in 2013. He emerged as a starter for the Broncos midway through the 2014 season.

Despite scoring the game-winning touchdown against the New England Patriots last month, Anderson has a lot of respect for the Patriots.

"They are really good," Anderson said. "Their players are always in the right position. [Patriots Head] Coach [Bill] Belichick and [Patriots Defensive Coordinator Matt] Patricia, they definitely know what to do and they try to take things away. We just have to execute Sunday.”

Anderson knows the Broncos aren't favored Sunday, but he doesn't care. He's been tweeting about it since Sunday.

"If that doesn’t motivate you, then you are in the wrong business," Anderson said. "We are supposed to go out there and get killed on Sunday, which is funny to me. Just go out there and play business. That’s why you play the game.”
