GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado man will spend six months in jail after he used profanity to express his displeasure with a bond hearing.
The Daily Sentinel of Grand Junction reports that the 36-year-old appeared in Mesa County court Thursday for a bond hearing on a drug possession case. The man was ordered to stay in jail in lieu of a $1,000 cash-only bond.
When the judge said the suspect never showed up to court on his own accord, the man said he was wrong and lobbed a profane phrase at the judge. When the judge asked if the suspect would like to apologize for his profanity, the man declined.
The judge ordered the suspect to serve 90 days in jail on direct contempt charge. The man swore again, and again, upping the jail time to 6 months.
