EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. -- The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office says it, like many law enforcement agencies across Colorado and the country, has received several calls about creepy clown sightings.
However, officials say, none of the threats have been credible.
"However, the safety and wellbeing of everyone in Eagle County is our priority and the sheriff’s office personnel are aware of the communities concerns and will continue to monitor the situation," the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said in a statement sent to Denver7. "Creepy is not a crime however, making threats or harassing others is and will be taken seriously and evaluated on a case by case basis."
Deputies are recommending, in light of the threats and concerns, that people steer away from creepy clown costumes this Halloween.
Deputies are also recommending that younger children treat-or-treat before dark, in larger groups and with adult chaperones.
Multiple agencies across Colorado have dealt with creepy clown threats in the last few weeks. Read more about the sightings and threats here.
