The two brothers who drowned Sunday have been identified as Daniel Foreman, 7, and Paul Foreman, 10, according to the Larimer County Coroner's Office.

The coroner ruled the deaths were an accident.

The boy's grandfather, Paul Joseph Foreman, told Denver7 the boys, who went to school in Loveland, were laughing and playing in the Little Thompson River, in Pinewood Springs, when they somehow got swept away. The boy's father, Jeff Foreman, tried to enter the water and save them, but he also got swept away by the current.

Foreman said the boys were found by their father about 100 yards away both lying near each other on the beach. He said the father tried to resuscitate them, but the boys didn't survive.

There was nothing unique about the water levels before the incident, Larimer County Sheriff's Office spokesman Bobby Moll said, adding that the water was swift in some spots.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
