DENVER -- A federal judge in San Francisco said he's strongly inclined to approve a nearly $15 billion settlement over Volkswagen's emissions cheating scandal.

Colorado will likely get $61 million from the settlement, which could mean big things for electric cars.

The Colorado Department of Health and Environment is in charge of giving out funds. The funds can only be used to reduce transportation emissions.

One of the things they're looking at is electric charging stations along state highways. The stations would allow electric car owners to drive to longer destinations.

The money can also be used to upgrade diesel buses.

It's not a done deal yet. A judge is expected to sign off on the settlement next week.

The state health department want's to know how the public thinks the money should be spent. You can share your comments online.
