Governor John Hickenlooper’s bachelor status comes to an end on Saturday, when he’ll marry short-term fiancé Robin Pringle.

In a press conference to discuss the upcoming legislative session, Hickenlooper was first asked about the ceremony and his engagement.

"You know, I just, I manned up, right?”

Hickenlooper joked he’d been trying to persuade Pringle not to get married but her opinion on the matter never changed.

“I just looked her in the eye and I said, 'Should we do this? Would you be willing to be my -- to get married and be my wife… It was more romantic than you'll ever know,” he laughed.

The Colorado governor said this will be a small service, held on the one weekend the couple are available in the near future.

“if we waited three or four months, then we'd end up having a gigantic wedding that would be 500 people or 600 people and it just didn't seem -- you know an occasion like that should be something that's powerful and intimate."

Most of the guests will be from out of town. He didn’t say where the wedding will be.

Hickenlooper proposed to Pringle around Christmas. Pringle, 37, is the vice president of corporate development for Liberty Media Corp. in Englewood.

This is the governor’s second marriage. He has a 13-year-old son with his first wife, Helen Thorpe.
