GOLDEN, Colo. — Jefferson County fire crews are battling a wildland fire burning in the foothills west of Golden near Apex Park Saturday afternoon.
The blaze is estimated to be about 17 acres and holding. It's not threatening homes or structures at this time, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire isn't affecting Apex Park since it had already closed due to muddy conditions, authorities said.
A helicopter has been dispatched to help with containment.
Fire crews said they would work on the fire tonight and through the night.
